oei, ik lig achter, en niet zoo'n beetje !

ik kan maar niet geloven, dat er alweer bijna 2 maanden voorbij zijn sinds mijn laatste post !

en als je me nu vraagt, waar ik het zo druk mee heb gehad, nou....................vanalles eigenlijk, de gewone dingen.

maar ik zal het goed maken, alleen................ik heb vandaag ( zoals gewoonlijk ) weer zoveel te doen, dus het wordt een kort verhaal !

hier alvast een stukje van mijn vorderingen aan Silent Night, en hopeljk morgen meer !

o my, I am behind, and not a little bit !

I can hardly believe that almost 2 months have passsed sinds my last posting !

and when you ask me, what has kept me busy all this time, wel..........................lots off things really, the usual things.

but I will make up for it, just..........................today I have ( as usually ) again a lot tot do, so this will be a short story !

here is my progress on Silent Night, and hopefully there will be more tomorrow !

massa hysterie / mass hysteria

Ook hier in het zuiden des landes heeft het weer flink gesneeuwd dit weekend.
Leuk voor de kinderen, zondag kwam Tristan's neef Dylan spelen, en natuurlijk hebben ze samen een nieuwe sneeuwkoning gemaakt in de tuin.
Toegegeven, het is een beetje een klein koninkje, maar hij moet nog groeien zullen we maar denken !

Vanmorgen was er nog een klein beetje bijgekomen, dus met de sneeuwlaarzen aan naar school !
Gelukkig wonen we erg dichtbij, dus we gaan gewoon met de voet naar school, geen probleem.
De doorgaande weg achter ons huis was al gestrooid, de auto's reden allemaal langzaam, dus dat was goed te doen.
En op het schoolplein lag een dikke laag sneeuw, dus dat was natuurlijk dolle pret !
Alleen.......................toen viel me ineens op hoe goed wij Nederlanders toch zijn in klagen .............
Jaren lang heeft iedereen geklaagd over de kwakkelwinters, zonder vorst, of sneeuw.
Vroeger, toen er een halve meter sneeuw lag, vroeger, toen de rivier dichtvroor.............
En nu ?
Nu hebben we vorst, en sneeuw, en nu is het weer niet goed !
Ik hoorde volop geklaag, over wegen die niet begaanbaar waren, drab dat op de weg lag, en dat je niet eens genoeg plaats was om met auto en fiets langs elkaar over de weg te rijden.
En dat ze hele stukken hadden moeten lopen...........

Ben ik nu echt de enige die dit raar vind ??
Hebben we nu echt verleerd om ons aan te passen, om logisch na te denken ?
We leven verdorie in het informatie tijdperk, met krant, tv, internet, sms , teletext, noem maar op !
Zijn er nu echt mensen die vanmorgen wakker werden en zich verwonderden dat er sneeuw lag ?
Want die lag er gisteren ook al hoor !
Je hoeft alleen maar naar het nieuws te kijken om te horen dat er veel sneeuw voorspeld was voor vandaag, dat het strooizout weer eens op is, en dat de ochtendspits een chaos zou worden.
Snappen ze dan echt niet dat met de fiets op pad gaan, zeker met een kind op zijn / haar eigen fiets naast je, misschien niet zoon goed idee is ?
Dat je ook iets eerder kunt vertrekken, en dan lopend kunt gaan ?
En dat als er gestrooid wordt, dan het dan logisch is dat er drab op de weg ligt ?

Ik begin me zo langzamerhand echt apart geval te voelen, alsof ik de enige ben die wel logisch kan nadenken ?
Ik weiger mee te doen aan deze klaag-trend !
Ik vind het prachtig uitzien, de sneeuw.
En natuurlijk, als je erdoor moet naar je werk, als de bussen en treinen niet rijden, en je MOET ergens heen, dan is het zeker vervelend, en dan mag je van mij klagen hoor.
Maar dat gezeur de hele tijd, wordt het daar beter van ?
Dus gewoon lekker doen wat je moet doen, en dan thuis met een lekker kopje warme thee, voor de verwarming, genieten van het uitzicht.
Voor je het weet is het weg, en regend het weer.
Kunnen we daar weer lekker over klagen .............

Sorry hoor, maar dit moest ik echt even kwijt !

Here in th south of The Netherlands we have had plenty of snow this weekend.
Nice for the kids, on Sunday Tristan's cousin Dylan came for a playdate, and of course they made a new snow king in the backyard.
It's a bit of a little Kingie, but maybe it will grow taller !

This morning there was a little more new snow, so we put our snowboots on as we went to school.
Luckaly we live very closeby, so we can go on foot, no problem.
The main road behind our house had even been cleaned, and all the cars were driving really slowly, so got to school just fine.
And in the playground there was lots od snow, so the kids had a ball !
Just...........................I all of a sudden noticed how good we the Dutch are in complaining................
For years everyone has been complaining about the warm winters we had, no ice, no snow.
Back in the day, when we had half a meter of snow, back in the day, when the river was frozen over.
And now ?
Now we have ice, and we have snow, and again we complain !
I heard so much talk, about how the raods were not clean, and there was melted snow on the raods, and there was not enough space to dive a car and a bycilce side by side on the raod.
And that they even had to walk for a while......................

Am I the only one who finds this a bit strange ?
Have we really lost our skills to adapt, or to even think logic ?
We are living in the information-eara, with, news-papers, tv, sms, internet, and so on,for goodness sake !
Are there really people who woke up this moring , and were amazed that there was snow ?
Course it was there yesterday to !
All you have to do is look at the news, to hear that the weather forecast predects snowfall all day, that they are out of salt for the raods yet again, and that morning trafic was predicted to be a complete chaos.
Don't they understand that going out on your bycicle, with your kid on his / her own bike beside you, might not be such a smart idea ?
That it is an option to leave early, and perhaps walk ?
And that if tere is salt on the road, you then get melted snow ?

I am strating to feel like the odd man out, am I the only one who can still use her comen sence of thinking ?
I refuse to follow this complaining - trend !
And I just love the seanery with all this snow.
Off course, if you have to go to work , and the busses and trains aren't going, and you HAVE to be somewhere, that is very troublesome, and you have every right to complain.
But that winig all of the time, does that really make things better ?
So just do what you have to do, and when you get home, have a nice hot cup of tea, and sit in front of your central heating, and enjoy the vieuw !
Before you know it the snow will eb gone, and it will be rainig again.
So that we can complain about that..............

I'm really sorry, but I just had to get that off off my chest !



En ook Silent Night is weer een stukje verder.
Eigenlijk nog een stukje verder, want deze foto is al van voor het weekend.....
Ik ben nu al halverwege, maar of ik het red met het blauw dat ik nu heb.........

Even a bit more then in this photo to be honnest, since this photo was taken before the weekend.
I'm halfway done now, but if I can get it done with the remainig blue I have left.........

Even een snelle update van Silent Night.
Schiet al goed op he !
Ik ben al klaar met uithalen, en het het nieuwe 322 al ingevuld, en ik vind het er veel beter uitzien !
Nu ben ik begonnen aan de boom, veel grijs, maar een erg mooi resultaat !
Meestal borduur ik alleen s'avonds.
Overdag is er altijd vanalles te doen, werken, kind verzorgen, poetsen, opruimen, koken, enz.
De avonden zijn dan voor mij, borduurtijd !
Maar nu borduur ik ook steeds vaker overdag.............
Ik heb wel een goed excuus hoor, het donker-blauw en het grijs zijn haast niet te zien s'avonds, dus dat probeer ik dan overdag te doen.
Maar nu ga ik weer snel verder, de boom wacht !

A quick update on Silent Night.
It's coming along really nice, I think !
I'm already done frogging, and have replaced it with the new 322 , and I think it looks so much better !
Now I've started on the tree, a lot of grey, but a wonderfull result !
Usually I only stitch in the eavening.
During the day there is always so much to do, work, taking care of my child, cleaning, cooking, cleaning - up , and so on.
So the eavenings are for me, stitch-time !
But now I find myself doing more and more stitching during the day....................
I habe a good excuse tough, the dark-blue and the grey are very difficult to make out on the black fabric in the eavening, so I try to do those colors during the day.
But now I have to hurry back to my stitching, a tree awaits !

oh deer !

Ik heb de laatste tijd veel geborduurd aan Silent Night.
Het is lekker borduren, veel grote stukken, geen rare kleur-combinaties, en het stof borduurd ook heel lekker.
Vooral hoe de kleuren uitkomen op het zwart, ik vind het zelf heel erg mooi.
Zoals het grijs, normaal niet mijn favorite kleur, maar hier vind ik het geweldig !
Het hert leek me wel leuk, dus daar ben ik aan begonnen, maar o jeetje, wat is ie groot !
Ik schrok er wel een beetje van !
Natuurlijk had ik wel een idee van hoe groot het geheel zou worden toen ik het stof afmat, maar hier moet ik toch even aan wennen, het lijkt wel een mega-hert !
Gek is dat he, alhoewel je weet hoeveel steken het geheel wordt, en je zelfs de stofmaat hebt, dat je dan toch een bepaald idee van de uiteindelijke groote in je hoofd hebt.
Of ben ik de enige met zulke rare idee-en ?

Sommige donkere stukken blijven open, zodat je de stof ziet, dat vind ik wel apart.
Straks met de stiksteken wordt het geheel wel duidelijker, en dan zie je het beter.

The past few days I have stitched a lot on Silent Night.
It's a great piece to stitch, a lot g big erea's, no weird color-combinations, and the fabric is really nice to work with.
Especially how the colors contrast with the black fabric, I like that very much.
Like the grey, normaly not my favorite color, but here I love it !
I thought the deer would be fun to stitch, so I started on that, but oh dear, it is so big !
I was a bit in shock !
Of course I had an idea about the finished size of the piece when I mesured the fabric , but this will take me some time to get used to, it looks like a mega-deer !
Isn't it funny, that, although you know the stitch-count, and your fabric size, you still have a surten idea about how big the piece will be in the end .
Or am I the only one with these silly idea's ?

Some parts will stay open, so the fabric shows, and I really find that really special.
When I've done the back-stitches it will become more clear, and then you'll be able to see it better


Het blauw vind ik natuurlijk helemaal geweldig, want blauw is mijn favorite kleur.
Alleen toen ik bezig was, vond ik de 322 een beetje tegenvallen..................
Ik heb er een tijd over getweifeld, of ik het zou uithalen, en zou vervangen voor een andere kleur, maar toen dacht ik wacht maar even af.
Als ik begin met kleuren veranderen, dan ben ik bang dat ik bezig blijf, en bovendien wil ik wel dat het geheel straks een beetje samen past , als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel.
En ja, ik kan vaak nogal precies zijn, en ben dan bang dat ik het verpruts.

Er gaat nogal wat blauw in dit werkstuk, dus ik had nieuw garen besteld.
3x raden wat ik zag toen het binnenkwam ..............................................juist, het nieuwe strengetje was een heel andere kleur blauw dan wat ik op mijn bobin had !
De nieuwe kleur was wel veel mooier, dus toen was mijn keuze snel gemaakt.
Uithalen dus maar weer !

The blue I of course love, since blue is my fovorite color.

When I started this piece , I found I felt thet the 322 did not fit in so well...........

I've been in doubt for a while, wheter or not to frog, and replace it by a different number, but then I decided to put it on hold.

Once I start changing colors, I often fear I will have to change more, and then there will be no end to it, and I do want everything to match in the end, if you know what I mean.

And yes, I can be really nit-picky, and then I fear I might ruin it.

I need a lot of blue for this piece, so I orded new DMC.

3 gueseswhat I saw when it arrived.................................................yes indeed, the new skein was a totally different color from what I had on my bobin !

But the new color was pretty-er then the color I had, so my dicision was made quite easy .

Let's frog !

Beetje slecht foto, ik weet het, volgende keer probeer ik een betere te maken.
Dit borduurd heerlijk, veel blauw, grote vlakken, 11 draads Jobelan is erg prettig, alleen het donker blauw op zwart, dat valt een beetje tegen s'avonds laat .

This is a lovely stitch, lots of blue, lots of big earea's, 18 coint Jobelan is really nice, just the dark blue on the black fabric, that's a bit tricky late at night.

Gewoon lekker borduren, geen moet-doen-lijstjes, maar vooral lekker genieten van het borduren !
Vind ik eigenlijk wel een heel goed doel en voornemen in 1 !

Zo, de feestdagen zijn weer achter de rug, even tijd om op adem te komen.
Ik vind het altijd een hele leuke tijd, maar om de een of andere reden heb je er altijd zoveel werk mee..........
Drukke dagen waarin je vanalles moet, en aan vanalles moet denken, en dan maar hopen dat alles goed gaat, zoals je gepland had.
Maar nu heb ik nog een paar dagen vrij, om even wat tijd voor mezelf te nemen.
En dus tijd om te bloggen !

Well, the holidays are done, time to catch my breath .

I really love the holiday season, but for some reason it always brings along so much work.................

Busy days, in which you have to do so many things, think about so many things, and then just hope that everything goes well, as you had planned.

But now I have a few days off, so some me-time.

And time to blog ofcourse !

Een tijdje geleden heb ik dit boek gekocht op Marktplaats , het heet cross stitch Mythes and Magic, en er staan patronen in van verschillende ontwerpers.

Hele mooie patronen, zoals je ziet !

Ik koop wel vaker dingen op Marktplaats, je kunt er vaak erg leuke patronen of andere dingen op de kop tippen voor leuke prijzen !

A while ago I bought this book on Marktplaats , it's called cross stitch Mythes and Magic, and it has charts from a lot of different designers in it.

Very nice charts, as you can see !

I often buy things on Marktplaats, it's like Ebay, ( we have a Dutch Ebay ), but much more popular, and you can often get very nice charts, or other things there for a good price.

Ik had het vorig jaar al gezien, maar toen was het alleen maar als compleet pakket te koop, en nu zag ik het patroon te koop.
Ik vind het zo Kerst-ig, ik heb het meteen gekocht, en ben er zelfs al aan begonnen...............

I had had my eye on this design since last year, but then it was only sold as a complete kit, and now I saw the chart for sale.
I find it so Christmas-isch , so I bought it right away, and have even started on it already...........
